October 1999, the cultural capital of Europe that year, by unanimous decision of all representatives of the national associations of music schools (between them, prim. ZMBŠS ), the so-called. Weimar declaration. EMU addressed the declaration to the committee on Culture, Youth, Education, media and sport of the Assembly of Europe, as well as to the Council of Europe, asking the members of these institutions to do everything in their power to actively support the promotion of music schools in Europe, in the spirit of the Weimar declaration adopted by EMU. We expect the institutions and individuals responsible for music schools in Europe and at national and local levels to implement the Weimar declaration as a guideline for the implementation of policies of importance for music schools as active participants in cultural life.
