Dear Mrs. President,
On behalf of the EMU board I would like to express my most sincere thanks for the meeting we had in Belgrade from 3 to 4 October 2014. For all of us it was the first time in this city, and thanks to you we had the opportunity to get acquainted with many aspects of your capital and Serbian culture in a very short time.
Thanks to your perfect organization, we were able to meet many Serbian colleagues but still keep our tight EMU meeting schedule successfully. The programme you prepared for us was rich and stimulating a fruitful pint meeting and exchange with school directors and teachers, a versatile and abundant mus e programme, culinary discoveries, a city tour and a lot of friendly and professional contacts and discussions.
The culminating point was the amazing concert on Saturday evening at the City Hall of Belgrade, like Timo Klemettinen said during the dinner, it was the best we have heard anywhere in the EMU context. You can be honestly proud of the quality of your music education, your teachers and students. We do hope that future contacts and projects will enable more EMU members to get acquainted with your pedagogical tradition and its results.
The Belgrade meeting will remain an important milestone on EMU’s way to the future. I am convinced that more co-operation in the Balkan area could lead us to more intense versatile and efficient co-operation inside the EMU. Your contacts to Bulgaria will be a valuable help in building a wider EMU network.
Please, transmit my thanks to all colleagues and friends who participated and contributed to the success of this meeting!
Helena Maffli
EMU President
